This coming Thursday (April 24th) we will hold the London finals of the International Speech and Evaluation contest. They are being hosted by our friends at Citi Criers and their parent company Citi.
So who are the competitors? With the Area contests now complete, we can, for the first time, collate everyone together. They are:
International Speech Contest
Area 6 - David Jones of Excalibur
Area 29 - Jean Cooper of Riverside Communicators
Area 31 - Helen Thomas of Citi Criers
Area 33 - Caroline Swain of Broadgate Speakers
Area 34 - Ola Arepelo of Tube Talk
Evaluation Contest
Area 6 - Amy Jackson of London Corinithians
Area 29 - John Craddock of Riverside Communicators
Area 31 - Clive Broadbent of Canary Wharf Communicators
Area 33 - Sean Kennedy of London Communicators
Area 34 - Hilary Briggs of Grosvenor Square
The doors 'will open' at 6.30 for a few nibbles and a glass of your favourite. The formal proceedings will get underway at 7pm and the event will finish by 9pm. I suspect that one or two hardy folks may descend on a local hostelry afterwards too to discuss the evenings events!
For those who have not been to Canary Wharf before, you can get there either by the Jubilee line or by the DLR. You can catch this from Bank or from Tower Hill tube stops. Find a map below:
A map to the venue is here:
Because the event is being held at a Citi facility, it is imperative that you register in advance to get your name on the door. No name on the door, no admittance! To register, email your Area Governor or club President who will make sure your name is added to the list of attendees.
The venue can hold around 200 people. The registrations were pouring in this past week but there are still plenty of seats. It would be great of get as many of you along as possible. You will hear great speeches and evaluations, have a little hospitality care of Citi, and get the chance to meet with fellow Toastmasters across London. So please come along to support your contestants - it promises to be a great event!
So remember its 6.30pm for 7.00pm, Thursday 24 April, Canary Wharf. If you haven't registered to say you are coming do so now!
